A bit about my journey so far...
Almost 2 years ago, my accounting firm hit a period of rapid growth. As someone with an honors degree in accounting and two decades experience under my belt, I thought I was prepared for anything my business journey could throw at me, but the reality was way different than I expected it to be. I quickly realized my very human & one-woman show limits, juggling an increasing number of clients while striving to provide the personalized attention each one of them deserved, and life as a newly single mom which required a lot more time and energy than I anticipated in order to be the mother my girls needed me to be. My nights quickly became a sleepless marathon of work and my days seemed to last even longer all the while my doubts about my abilities (hello, imposter syndrome) and life as a single mother (hello, mom guilt) quickly crept in and made my seemingly impossible situation so much worse. Don’t get me wrong, these were ‘good’ problems to have because it meant I cared deeply (too much, at times, or so I’m told) and I am NO stranger to hard work (especially growing up in a lower-middle-class family, where making ends meet was a daily challenge) as much of my early adulthood journey revolved around ALL work & NO play and still a stack of bills left to pay! But this experience was vastly different from working 2 jobs while pregnant with my 2nd daughter (a whole other story from before I was a small business owner and was instead a newlywed mother). Long story short, I was on the brink of burnout teetering between my professional aspirations and my responsibilities as a mother. My default 'survival mode' had completely taken over at this point and I was burning the candle at both ends. One of those sleepless nights that I mentioned earlier, it hit me… I was perpetuating the very cycle I was trying so hard to break (hello, generational curse that followed me deeper into adulthood than expected)!
I realized that I needed a sustainable path forward – not just for my business and my clients, but for my daughters, who deserved more than watching their mother drown in work, and for myself, who deserved to enjoy the time and money freedom that I had been working so hard towards. So. I decided to refine my approach, starting with delegating lower-level tasks for my business to help free up some much-needed time for myself. This led to a decision that would change our lives (mine, my clients, and my four daughters) and my business for the better – bringing my two teenage daughters into the business. Training my girls to do bookkeeping and administrative assistant work not only eased the burden of my increasing workload but also became my family’s collective step towards breaking the generational curse all been born into like I had set out to do when first starting my business.
This major step forward wasn't just about delegation; it was also about learning to truly value my worth in the process. I go ALL in for my clients but I wasn't charging accordingly so raising my prices was necessary, albeit terrifying, and became the 2nd step in my sustainable path forward. My mindset started to shift from mere survival to growth and prosperity. Together, we weren't just surviving; we were thriving!
This part of my journey also gave birth to my signature E.M.P.O.W.E.R Blueprint – a holistic and highly personalized framework forged from lessons learned, financial expertise, and a new-found growth mindset. It has since been the cornerstone of not only my continued success minus the overwhelm of days past but that of the many other ambitious female solopreneurs that we've helped along the way so far. This proven 7-step framework is how I am effectively able to utilize all of my growing expertise in a simple, easy-to-follow, and repeatable process that gets results. It is how my clients have transformed their business and personal financial situations while keeping their professional aspirations and personal goals aligned to enjoy more time and money freedom than ever before!
With my third daughter joining our team just recently, my firm has evolved into a family legacy and a beacon for ambitious solopreneurs dedicated to turning their overwhelming dreams into empowered realities!
